Hello to all the followers of this site,
This is a shout out to all those who have noticed that “Silver Linings” has undergone a name change and are probably wondering why. “Silver Linings” is now officially “What Life said to Me”. If Shakespeare was around he’d probably say “What’s in a name?” and shrug it off. Apparently a lot (to me)!
When I created this site , the last thing on my mind was the name which many would say ideally should have been the first. All I wanted to do then was to begin writing; I had neither the patience nor the creativity required to choose the Site Title. After a few random ideas, I settled for “Silver Linings” simply because it was positive and I just couldn’t come up with anything else. I decided I would come back to it sometime in the future.
Six months into blogging and writing posts on parenting, travels, random thoughts and experiences, it felt like something was missing. I couldn’t relate to the name I had given my blog. But I still had absolutely no idea what I wanted to call it. So, I ignored the feeling and carried on writing.I looked at the titles fellow bloggers and found some titles truly endearing ” Diary of a would- be novelist”, “Pages from a book I’ll never write”, “You can do it”…and I hoped one day I’d find my name too.
A year later, last night to be precise, “What Life said to Me” was born and in a moment, it felt so me. A connection had been made. With all due respect to greatest writer of all times, I had to disagree with him on his idea of the importance of a name. This name made me feel like I was talking to my readers. It gave my writing direction and it kind of tied every post and poem that I had written so far under one big umbrella.
For all those readers who do not like the change, please know that nothing else has changed other than the name. The writer and the writing remain the same. To you I say, pray remember Shakespeare’s words “A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet”. 🙂
Now, for the the third category of readers, those who haven’t noticed the change. That’s perfectly fine. Consider this post a FYI :).
Now to all the readers, irrespective of which category you fall into, welcome again aboard “What Life said to ME” . I felt I owed you an explanation on the name change, hence this post. Please continue showering your likes on this blog and sharing your opinions on posts because thanks to readers like you this blog is alive.
Wishing all of you a wonderful rest of the week.
Cheers,
Smitha V

I like your site’s new name Smitha. Just like you, in my desire to impose coherence to the style and theme of my writings and the ideas I wanted to share to the world, I’ve also changed my site’s title, and guess what, not just twice but thrice already! 😉
It only shows how much you wanted to bring out the best from your site to offer to the world and us, your fellow blogger-friends. Change is a sign of growth.
Btw, happy 1 year of blogging. I’m glad to be a part of your community. I love your site.
Wish you more years of bringing messages of hope and encouragements to the blogosphere.
All the best!

Hey thanks Andrei. I thought I was the only one who hadn’t thought well enough about the title. It’s good to know you went through the same path. So you’ve done it thrice…which means I have still 2 more to go😀. Like you said, that’s what growing and changing is all about. I like ‘ Thought Avenue’. Thank you for such positivity and encouragement on the new title. I do feel a lot less hazy now☺. All the very Best to you too!

You’re welcome Smitha.
Yeah, my site title have transitioned initially from “Odds and Ends” to “Simply Writing” and (hope finally) to “Thought Avenue:Speak your mind”. And my community has been so supportive of me on all those transitions. I am just blessed to be part of such an awesome blogging community ☺
