The Night of The Super, Blue, Blood Moon… Jan 31st 2018

Taken by my younger daughter through her mobile phone…not too clear but the sky wreaked fear

Deep blue, black or was it shades of gray,

The sky, that night of Jan 31st?

Dark and eerie, warned of havoc, storms, tempests at bay…

Glowering overhead,  a death-like silence…

“Those ignorant, inconspicuous earthlings below!”

Mighty, formidable- “A tremor enough to end this violence!”

They watched in awe,

The Moon was rising, as fiery as the Sun,

A ball of blood red, they, in amazement saw…

“Where had it gone, that gentle, creamy- white moon?”

Eclipsed at first, then appearing, in all it’s splendor, searing in rage,

“It had shown it’s ire – that over which lovers’ swoon…”

And, then as they stood, in earnest humility,

A big white moon shone, much bigger than before,

They had been forgiven, Nature, again, had shown it’s mercy!

Not to be forgotten, the Wonder, the Fear, the Greatness,

Of the night, The Skies had shown their wrath,

A reminder, “Man Must! His ways mend, his actions harness.”

That night of the Blue Moon, the Blood Moon, the Super Moon!

Life and Earth, to Man hath been bestowed,

“Oh Dear Man, Do  not forget too soon…”

That night of the New Moon, the Blood Moon, the Super Moon,

“Oh Dear Man, Do  not forget too soon…”

  1. Lovely post Smitha. I agree to the words. Nature is turning. Man has to learn, even has to be stopped. Amongst the guilty, the innocent too die. Sad but true. Mother nature has already started warning

  2. What a wonderful poem. I think we have similar views. We see the world as something beyond us, mysterious and beautiful and also as something within us, providing us with not only life, but also with beauty and love and positive strength.

An amazing poem. Thank you for sharing this experience!

    1. Thank you so much for going through the poem and for your feedback on the poem. It’s an honor.
I am totally in awe of nature and somehow everytime I see it, it teaches me something new. It’s really nice to know that we share similar views. Thank you again, so much.

  3. Of all the poems I read on Super Moon, yours had to be the best my friend and for several reasons. The poetic magic that you cast through your words shined through out as it always does but the message, it’s the message that caught my attention the most. If only, humans heeded the warnings of nature.

    1. Oh really😊. I must check out the other poems. But thank you so much for the compliment. I’m honored. Thank you. Looked up that night and felt really small under the big, black over cast blanket. Yes, so wish the wise men understood.

    1. Hello Ben, thank you!…The message is a warning from the Universe to mankind to stop violence because if Nature decides to show it’s anger then in 1 blow, the earth will be destroyed.
