One more from last year’s poetry writing challenge
Day 16 of the Poetry Writing Challenge, was to write a letter- poem. A poem similar to letter writing. It could be in the form of a letter to a person, place or thing or in the form of a back and forth correspondence.
Thanks to the challenge, I drafted the one below .Was an opportunity to rekindle the past.
My dearest darling,
It’s been a while,
Two decades and a quart to be precise,
It’s funny how quickly time flies,
And you’re still the reason behind my smile…
The past still fresh, with closed eyes, I see
As strangers we met, in a far away land,
Frightened and unaware of the future planned,
Of destiny’s mysteriously sweet conspiracy…
Classmates, friends we happened to be
Oblivious of the way ahead,
Was it the blind heart that had ruled or the mighty head?
I can’t tell, for what is, was, what was meant to be…
For not a thing in the world, would I trade
The laughter, the tears, the dreams or the fears,
The doubts, the cheers or the difficult years,
Entwined into a weave so rare, so precious made…
If ever, I had to go back again, to that far away land
Where two paths crossed and a journey began,
I would take the same turn and follow the same plan,
Every hurdle, every trouble, now I’d fearlessly withstand…
I’d make the same choices over and over again-
No changes, no alterations, no makeover,
I’d tread the same path that leads to you again,
My darling, my friend, my soulmate forever…
Yours Forever & Ever,

Thank you so much Pranitha:) I love it when I receive your comments. I was thinking of you yesterday and thinking April seems rather far off for our rendezvous:).

I know, Smitha, in fact I was wondering aloud if I could take off as the husband is at home using up his leave before it lapses, but my little one is down with a cold and sticks to me like a glue now. With just a week left, I suppose I don’t have much time left. It has become natural for me to look around in malls for your familiar face, just in case, you never know.

☺ Thanks Robbie. Taking part in NaPoWriMo did bring out the best because they set limits and provide a topic.
