It’s been so long, since she’s been gone,
She, who every role to perfection did don,
The quintessence of beauty and grace; as bright as the sunshine,
Oh! How I prided myself she was only mine,
She was the Kohinoor in my crown,
Behind me she stood, when I was up and by me when I was down
I gave her precious jewels and silks to adorn,
Built houses and amassed wealth, “For you,” I said yet she looked forlorn,
I shrugged it off and laughed it away,
Didn’t see the tears behind the smile so gay,
Was blind, I did not see,
That all she wanted was time spent with me,
Then one day, she said “I’m tired. Can’t wait no more. Take care. Goodbye,”
She breathed her last; she shut her doe-shaped eye,
Now I stand tired and worn,
I yearn for that love that once was… I drown; for me I mourn…

Beautifully written, and heartbreaking. It is merely each other that we yearn for, not things.

Yes it’s so sad. We are so busy building castles that we forget to create a life with the person we wish to share it with. It’s lovely to know you felt the pain, reading the poem.
