As I grow older, I’m falling more and more in love with the night. Is it the darkness that I love or the silence that it brings? Is it the glow of the night lamp or the solitude?
Ah! the night is here,
How I love it so-
I, the silent spectator
It does the talking;
Moaning dogs, honking cars
Chirping crickets, screeching tires
Behind closed wooden doors,
And open glass windows
I hear, the incessant hum
The day is done; the night has come
Ah! The night is here,
How I love it so…
I, the keen observer
It does the painting;
Orange moon today, midnight blue skies
No sign of stars today; clouds in streaks, guise
Black crowns of trees, twinkling lights
I watch in amazement, I behold the sights-
A throw over my feet, a bolster for my back
A melodious silence, seeps in and stays
Ah! the night is here-
A silent spectator
Its watching,
Me; unwinding
A keen observer
Its listening,
The buzz of my unbroken breathing
My heart’s unceasing beating
Every ebb and flow
In the lantern’s soft glow.
Ah! The night is here
How I love it so…

Ah, Night..!! How much do I love it.. 😍
(except the dogs and noisy cars of course)
I mostly like peace and tranquility. Night time gives the appropriate amount of such a quiet ambiance to think, work and enjoy..!!
If you so love nights, please do visit the places beyond the Arctic Circle during December. A pitch black darkness and serenity will certainly entice you beyond doubt.. 😊
(Have mentioned about it in one of my posts, hope you read it.. 😉 )
Lovely read.. Thanks for sharing..!!

Oh yes – the dogs! They do bark endlessly here. Arctic circle – another one on my bucket list – to see the Northern lights in Iceland. Do share the link of the blog that you’re referring to.

Barking stray dogs are the least of the worries for a pedestrian or a 2Wheeler rider in India. They snarl, jump, chase and attack. Please be safe.
Sure.. I am sharing the link.. There is more than one post actually: https://theunclicheophile.com/2019/01/18/%d0%bc%d0%b5%d1%87%d1%82%d0%b0-the-quest-to-live-the-dreams-part-2/

Loved your poem – the skies are indeed wondrous – I tend to see the rising sun more as I get up very early – but there’s nothing like a starry night. Thank you for sharing – blessings Lois

Thank you so much for your kind words and blessings🙏. Am so glad the poem resonated with you. I used to love early mornings once but these days it generally means- get out of bed and begin the day with loads to do🙂. Hence the love for the night.
