Two yellow bracelets

I have two yellow bracelets

One falls loosely over the wrist

Big yellow crystals, in a gold band

The other is a clasp

Smaller stones – yellow crystals, embedded in

Precious! Both! They lie in an ornate box –

Two pairs of earrings, sit with those bracelets

Freshwater pearls

In a ring of yellow sapphire stones.

Why two you ask?

I say, ”Coz, they were meant for two-

One was hers, the other was mine

‘Twas a gift from me to her –

For she liked yellow

And I did so too

But then she left

And left it all behind

Lying in the ornate box-

Two yellow bracelets

And two pairs of earrings

Freshwater pearls in a ring of yellow sapphire stones

The two bracelets

I had gifted my mom the bracelet with the bigger crystals. It lies with my own in my jewelry box – and serves as a constant reminder that we don’t take anything with us when we leave this realm to go in to the next -as much as we love something or even if it is given to us by someone who truly loves us. At the end, they’re just add-ons that we leave behind. Reminds me of the below words from the Bible and reminds me that I must focus on what truly matters – making beautiful memories and having experiences.

Thank you Robbie. Had been meaning to write it since long…you know everytime I open my jewelry box, it seems to stare back at me, telling me to write it. Am so glad it touched you.

I very much relate to this poem!
I have some bracelets and earrings that belonged to my sister.
She gave them to me before she passed on ~ I treasure them now!

Thank you Margie. I thought as much. When people leave, their things remain with us and it’s weird…the memories they bring up. I’m sure you love wearing your sister’s jewelry. ❤
