Delhi is burning
And nobody is looking
Who should we tell?
That the capital’s, a living hell!
Makes it difficult for them to see
Through all that dust and smog maybe
Delhi is bleeding and there’s no respite
Seventy odd years on, since the stroke of midnight
The law of the jungle, its new order
Wielding sticks and pelting stones
Bullets fired, silencing the deafening moans
The seat of the parliament
And the entire regiment
Marred forever by indelible stains
Of the blood of innocents that flood Delhi’s drains
In danger- all Indian citizens
Men and women
Alas! They do not spare even the children*
Seeds of hatred have been sown
Somebody’s fighting and they’re, not our own
How can we open our doors then to another
When within our homes, we hide, bereft of shelter?
Those who must, cannot hear-
Maybe its the polluted air
Stifling- it silences the cries of the persecuted there
Delhi is burning
And nobody’s listening
Who should we tell?
The capital’s a living hell!

I’m a delhite and it pains and surprises me to see the deteriorating law and order conditions in the capital. A rigid policy needs to be established at the earliest to restore normalcy!!

I understand. It must feel terrible to see you city under attack. Hoping and praying people in charge fix it without violence. Do stay safe.

Although I hate most of the aspects of Mumbai, but I must credit the machinery over here which didn’t let things escalate, unlike in Delhi. Hope the culprits are identified and punished to set an example.

Yes absolutely. And hopefully, the criminals are punished.

The entire system seems to have failed in Delhi and no one took proactive action to prevent violence.
