Ask him who found shelter in the torrential rain
or just about managed to catch the last train
Ask him who found reason to smile in spite of his pain
or could catch a good night’s rest even after all his hard work went in vain
He’ll tell you, ‘God works in mysterious ways’
And if you still do not believe
Ask him who found himself amidst his loss
or found the strength within to carry the burden of his cross
Ask him whose spirit was weary
but managed to move on despite life’s drudgery
You’ll have no doubt that God works in mysterious ways
If your heart ever grieved
And yet you are here today, it’s because you believed
If in a state of despair you saw a flicker of hope
that helped you cope
Then you know it’s true when they say, ‘ God works in mysterious ways’
If your mind ever felt ambushed with a zillion questions
and in that buzz you unearthed your most valuable lessons.
If a chance encounter with a stranger or if the words you read
cleared the weeds, growing in your head
Then you have no reason but to agree that God works in mysterious ways
And if you do, then maybe, today, you need to hear
this – ‘You have no reason to fear’
‘Have faith, my dear.’
